My 2nd City Crew
July 1, 2009
Three of our troupe members are out in Chicago this week, taking the Improv 1 and Sketch Writing 1 workshops at the Second City Training Ground. Having taken these courses myself last year, my mind boggles that Rob goes to classes, improvs, writes, drinks Guinness, attends evening shows … AND STILL FINDS THE TIME TO BLOG!
My God, I usually have trouble just getting up in the morning!
From what he has been posting, his writing class differs from the one I took. We did not have to “create a scene”; the emphasis in my class, all week long, was to learn how to write as a group.
Our ultimate goal at Dutch Blitzkrieg is to follow in Second City’s footsteps, by taking note of our short games, and based on a common theme, turn them into a long comedy show.
I look forward to reading Rob’s daily posts, both on WordPress and Twitter. I know that my CREW will come back chock-full of ideas and excitement … and I can’t wait to get started!
They are already talking about next summer…

i was just there too – what a great place. When were your 3 folks here? I did mine last week (July 27-31)
Hi Mike – my peeps were there July 29-August 3rd, and I’m heading out for the Improv II and Sketch Writing II workshops this coming week. Everyone was extremely excited (but exhausted) when they came back. What they learned has already kicked our little troupe up several notches, and I’m very proud of them. We are all thinking of doing the Musical improv next year. In the meantime, several of my classmates from last summer are in the Chicago area, and we are all meeting up at iO on Thursday night to see another classmate who came from Norway to train at SCTC last year, and is taking classes at iO this year. His class is doing the improv show that night at 6 PM, upstairs in the Del Close theatre.
